Tapping into Community Resources

Here in Virginia Beach, our volunteer crews are extraordinary, and we are lucky to have such generous, concerned citizens. Besides the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad and the other nine squads in the city, Virginia Beach has Special Operations Teams of volunteers. They include:

  • Bike Medic Team
  • Squad Truck Team
  • Search and Rescue Team
  • Marine Rescue Team
  • SWAT Tactical Medical and Rescue Response
  • Volunteer Duty Field Supervisor Team

We will train you.

Virginia Beach pays for your training when you take the EMT course through the city at the Fire & EMS Training Center. If you’re interested in furthering your education, the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad also offers opportunities where we sponsor your advanced training. Read more about our training here.

For more information about the training process, contact Virginia Beach EMS by clicking here or calling (757) 385-2911.

Area community colleges and other sources also offer emergency medicine classes. Click a link below for more information.
