Protection-in-Pink Campaign

How This Effort Began

In October, the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad partners with The Buff Foundation, a local Virginia Beach group, to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. In the past, this effort has been internal, meaning that the money raised was donated entirely by our own volunteer members. If you see our members wearing pink on duty in October, you see someone who has supported this cause.

The photo above was taken at Buff’s Garden on 47th Street in Virginia Beach to honor the woman who was the inspiration for this foundation. With us is Buff’s mother, Mrs. Dawson R. Taylor.

How to Show Your Support

We heard such strong support and desire to participate from the community, that we’re opening the fundraiser to the public.  One of our custom pink Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad t-shirts can be yours with a $15 donation to our campaign. Throughout the month of October, we’ll have the t-shirts available at events, or donations can be made online and picked up at Station 14. To order yours, please call us at (757) 437-4830 Monday-Thursday between 10am and 3pm and ask for Mary-Ellen. We want to be sure we have the size you request in stock. Thank you!
